There are a few questions that we get asked all the time so I thought I’d answer them on our blog:
Q) Where did you get your name?
A) We were at my house brainstorming ideas for group names when I glanced at my bookshelf where my father’s old Tonette (a small musical instrument similar to a recorder) was being displayed. The rest is history!
Q) How long have The Tonettes been together?
A) As a group, our first official gig was singing the National Anthem for the grand re-opening of a local Wal-Mart store. That was in September of 2009. We all went to college together though so we have actually been singing together in various choral groups for years.
Q) Is it hard to sing a capella?
A) Yes! It takes a lot of practice to be able to stay in tune with no musical instruments or background music!
Q) How often do you practice?
A) Twice a week for two hours.
Q) Do you only perform a capella music?
A) No! We are actually in the process of preparing a Patriotic Show for the Grand Junction City Fireworks Spectacular on July 4, 2010 and a Vintage Christmas show this winter. These shows will have background music for all of the songs.
Q) Who designs your outfits and where do you buy them?
A) Between the five of us, we have pieced our outfits together ourselves! We shop anywhere from online vintage boutiques to Target!
If you have any other questions for us please let us know!
We would love to hear from you!
